Alms & Benevolence

We are called to show the love of Christ through giving to help those in need out of the resources that the Lord has entrusted to our stewardship. Jesus exhorts us in Matthew 6:1-4 to give charitably, from a heart that loves and cares, not for any recognition that may be attained. Acts 4:32-35 tells of the early church gathering their possessions to share with those in need. Other examples of Jesus' disciples helping those in need can be found in Acts 11:28-30; Romans 15:25-27 and 1 Corinthians 16:1-4. As we gather our tithes and offerings each Sunday, we are to set aside a portion of all that God has blessed us with to help those in need. Apart from collection of funds, food donations are given to the local food bank of the York Region Food Network and toiletry items are gathered to bless the ministry of Welcoming Arms in Aurora.
Our benevolence ministry reaches out to those in need, helping with spiritual, emotional, and financial needs, as is most appropriate to each situation. We invite our church family to make their needs known to us, in order to effectively connect through personal contact.
Welcoming Arms

An integral part of our benevolence ministry is partnering with other churches in Aurora through the ministry of Welcoming Arms. Their mission is expressed in the following statement:
“In loving partnership, we seek to be the hands and feet of Christ by promoting human, physical and spiritual well-being within our community.”
Our church family provides both volunteer personnel and financial support to help the needs of those in our community of Aurora.
Inn From the Cold

Beginning in 2011, our benevolence ministry has expanded to provide volunteers and resources to partner with Inn From the Cold.
On February 4th, with the help of many wonderful volunteers from our church family, a delicious roast beef dinner was served at the Inn. Our team enjoyed meeting and talking with people from the community, and working alongside community volunteers who minister to those seeking the services offered through the valuable programs the Inn offers.
