We've all been through storms in our lives. I remember driving back from my parents towards Toronto on a warm summer evening when a storm hit. We were very close to Lake Huron and a storm came rushing at us over this large lake. I felt like I was a storm runner rather than a storm chaser. The sky went dark and almost a shade of green, the winds picked up and howled, they beat against our minivan and pushed us all over the road. I could see the panic in the kids eyes as the storm got closer. Storms can seem overwhelming at times. We don't know what to expect or just how hard the winds and rain will be. I remember calming my kids down as we drove through the storm towards home. We'll be home soon, everything will be just fine i would say. You could see that their faces were fine once we were in the storm and dad reassured them that everything would be okay.
Storms in life are like this. Jesus tends to calm us and remind us that everything will be okay.
Jesus' priority wasn't to calm the storm. He came to calm the disciples in the MIDST of it saying, "Take courage. I am here!". - Mt. 14
I don't know what you may be facing today, but Jesus is reminding you take courage, I am here. Isn't it great to know he is here?
